An incredible gemstone?horseshoe?bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Most likely French in origin, this gorgeous bangle?is?crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold and features a beautiful?gemstone horseshoe motif at its center. Lining the surface of the open horseshoe?are four natural rubies?and three old Mine Cut diamonds, which together form a stunning?alternating pattern. The sparkling diamonds weigh approximately 0.45ctw combined, each one catching the light beautifully with every turn. The stones pair perfectly next to the?raspberry red faceted rubies, which collectively have a total approximate carat weigh of 1.00ctw.?The surface of the horseshoe displays a subtle?matte finish except for a smoothly polished triangular shaped accent at the center along with at each tip, providing a wonderful, eye-catching effect. The band is comprised of stacked open wirework, tapering gradually as it nears the back, where it fastens with a push clasp on the side and a?safety chain for?additional security. Stamped on the back?of the horseshoe is an "18" gold purity mark, and stamped on the tongue of the clasp are what appears to be two faded French hallmarks, one is an export mark of Mercury head, and the other is the?a bigorne mark, also known as a countermark that was used to discourage French hallmarking fraud. Whether worn alone or stacked with other bangles, this stunning equestrian?inspired piece would make a stylish addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements:?The interior of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 1/8" wide and 1 3/4" tall, and the piece would fit nicely on an average sized wrist. The horseshoe?measures about 1" tall and 7/8" wide, and about 1/4" thick. The graduated bracelet measures about 3/8" wide at the front, and 1/8" wide at the back.
Condition:?The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent?damage to the gold setting. All of the rubies?and diamonds are intact and securely set. The clasp and safety chain are secure and in good working condition.?
