An absolutely lovely bohemian garnet bug pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful piece is?crafted in 10kt rose gold and depicts the shape of an open winged bug. The pin, which is fairly large in size, has a body represented by two closed back bezel set cabochon garnet stones, which have a smoothly polished surface and display a beautiful?deep red hue. Two faceted garnets represent each eye and at the sides of the bug's body are two wide open wings, each encrusted with a vibrant display of faceted and graduating garnets. Four bent legs peek out from underneath the insect and two gold antennae curve out from either side, resting between its eyes. The pin has a wonderful 3-dimensional look with incredible detail throughout and the underside reveals a secure c-catch pin clasp. It's a fabulous piece and would make a beautiful addition to any collection!
